Mould Test Kit – How It Can Help You get Rid of Your Mould

A mould test kit allows you to test your home to see if you have any toxic mould present. Since many moulds are not toxic and therefore not dangerous to humans, it is important to be able to test for mould and find out if it is black mould. The test kits on the market today let you do this yourself without the costly job of calling in professionals to do it for you. The test kits for mould are easy to use and use the same procedure as the professionals do. With a mould test kit, you can really give your home a really good inspection.

If you notice that there is mould growing in the basement or on a surface somewhere else in the home, you can just scrape off a small portion of it into a mould test kit. You do need to wear rubber gloves and a facemask because if it is black mould, it could be very toxic.

You can use a paint scraper to get the mould sample for the black mould test kit, but make sure that you disinfect it beforehand to make sure you won’t contaminate the specimen. Then all you have to do is close the cover on the mould test kit, print your name and address and the time and date you took the sample. You can bring the test kit to a lab to have the mould analysed.

Black mould test kits are not expensive to buy. You can easily pick up a mould test kit for about $15 and it only costs another $30 to the mould sample analysed in a lab to see if it is toxic black mould. When you look at these prices, compared to what you would have to pay professional technicians to do the job, it is quite easy to be able to do the tests yourself.

The hardest part of mould tests is trying to find out whether or not you do have mould in your home. When you can’t see or smell it, it is really hard to know where to look. Fortunately, there are mould test kits for this as well. This type of mould test kit comes with a Petrie dish containing a disk. All you have to do is set the dish in an area where you think there may be mould and leave it there for about two hours. Then you close up the kit and let the disc incubate for 48 hours. When you reopen the mould test kit, if you notice there is a fungus growing on the disc, then you need to have it analysed to see if it is black mould.
